We are a fully remote company with staff in and outside Africa and are hiring a Compliance Intern to work with us.
As a Compliance Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn and contribute to various compliance functions within our organization. Your primary responsibilities will involve working closely with our Fraud Analysts, AML Analysts, Compliance Managers, and Compliance Head to gain a comprehensive understanding of daily tasks and processes. This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in the field of compliance and financial crime prevention.
This Compliance Internship provides an outstanding opportunity to gain practical experience and develop a solid foundation in compliance and financial crime prevention. By working closely with experienced professionals in our organization, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills required to pursue a successful career in the field of compliance within the financial industry.
What you will be doing:
- Shadow experienced analysts to monitor real-time queues and identify high-risk transactions within our business portfolio.
- Observe customer transactions to identify fraudulent activities such as Account Takeover, Friendly Fraud, Theft, Romance Scams, and other similar risks.
- Assist in reporting identified fraudulent transactions to the leadership team.
- Collaborate with analysts to resolve queued transactions within service level agreements to minimize customer dissatisfaction and revenue losses.
- Help identify suspicious activities and unusual patterns that could lead to fraud, including AML issues and activities reported by staff members.
- Contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance fraud prevention measures within the organization.
- Learn about the compliance function and its role in ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Assist in documenting interactions, findings, and compliance-related activities in Grey's internal portal.
- Collaborate with Compliance Managers and Compliance Head to communicate with clients, requesting additional documents for KYC (Know Your Customer), compliance purposes, and to mitigate risk behavior.
- Work with the Risk Operation Team to provide necessary support in handling escalations and processing risk reviews.
- Collaborate effectively with the Customer Service team to ensure a seamless customer experience while mitigating compliance risks.
You will be a good fit if you have:
- Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as finance, business administration, or law.
- Strong interest in compliance, financial crime prevention, and fraud detection.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and anomalies.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in using computer applications and willingness to learn new software platforms.
